Fatherless pre-teen Justus happily moves with ma, vet Marita Engstroem, from Stockholm to Hallberg, where she gets a job in his late dad's best friend Marius Bengtson's stud-farm. Mysterious recluse Paul Sommerfeld, actually an anonymous, shy author, meets them trough his wounded dog. Justus bonds with the dog, thus becomes friends with Paul and plays Cupid for him and his ma.

Filmed at Liverpool Military Camp (Sydney) in 1941 and using national servicemen to lend authenticity, this film was one of many sponsored by the federal government during World War II to boost armed forces recruitment. The film also features recognisable actors of the day including Grant Taylor, Shirley Ann Richards and John Fleeting, who had appeared for director Ken G Hall in feataure films made by the Sydney-based Cinesound Productions.

Breaking into the vault of Midlandbank! One of the night watchmen is shot, the unknown perpetrator can escape with the loot - around two and a half million. A $100,000 reward is being offered for the capture of the murderer. Meanwhile, two detectives are shadowing the luxury villa of Franklin Aldin and Sissi Hendersen, who seem suspicious to them, especially since they are not unknown to the police. Their staff, who have only been with them for about a month, are also highly suspect.
